From Memory To Memoir: Writing and Preserving Your Life
Turn memories and stories of the significant events in your life into a memoir. Learn where to start, how to organize your memoir and which pictures and documents to include. Instructor: Susan Omilian. Fridays May 2, 10:30 a.m. - Noon, $35 for six weeks $30 for SilverSneakers members.



Advanced Memoir Writers Workshop
Share your writing with a published author in a supportive workshop environment that can put new life, zest and polish into your story. Working from in-class writing exercises and prompts, your goal will be to finish a specific piece of your memoir and prepare it to be published or self-published. Opent o those who have attended a "Memory To Memoir" class or with the instructor's approval. Instructor: Susan Omilian. Fridays, May 2, 12:30-2 p.m. $45 for six weeks $30 for SilverSneakers members.



Peripheral Vascular Disease Screening
Cold, blue or red feet, with our without calf or leg pain when walking, could be a sign of poor leg circulation. This screening provides an indication of the quality of leg circulation in people without diabetes. Conducted by Catherine Milne, APRN. Thursday, May 2, 2-4 p.m., $10.



Beginner and Mixed Level Yoga
This class will help you to activate your inner healer and access peace of mind through a sequence of postures, and specialized breathing and mental techniques. Flexibility is not required. Please bring a yoga mat to class. Instructor: Martin Berson, BA, BS, Monday, May 5, 5:30-6:30 p.m. or Thursday, May 8, 6:30-7:30 p.m. $70 for seven weeks.



Chocolate: The Hidden Food Group
The average American consumes 11 pounds of chocolate yearly. New research has found tantalizing evidence that ingredients in chocolate can improve heart health. Clear Your Desk, LOVE Your Life!
Do paper piles choke your desk and dining room table? Do emails clog your inbox? Do you long to achieve the results you desire? In a fun, and interactive session, Dr. Doreen Stern, aka The Desk Docktor, reveals the secret to breaking free from your desk debris. To get you started, we suggest that you bring the top piece of paper from one of your piles. Tuesday, May 6, 7-9 p.m. $20.



Diabetes Support Groups
Adults with diabetes, their families and friends are invited to attend one of our free monthly support group meetings. ZUMBA
Zumba is a dance-based class that uses a combination of Latin and International music. The music, the steps, the moves, the feel of this cardio-based workout is unlike anything you have ever experienced before! Instructor: Linda Clemons, Healthtrax Fitness Director. Incontinence Screening
Our screening takes place in a confidentail setting and assists in determining likely causes of incontinence. Conducted by: Catherine Milne, APRN. Thursday, May 8, 2-4 p.m., $5.



Balance Screening
Falls have come to be recognized as a major threat to the safety, health and independence of an elderly person. One major risk for falls is a balance disorder. Come to this screening to find out your risk for falls. Conducted by: Jennifer Carbone, MSPT, Thursday, May 8, 8:30-11:30 a.m., Free



Tai Chi From the Arthritis Foundation
TAI CHI FROM THE ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION This joint safe program is suitable for people of all levels of physical fitness. Those who participate will increase their strength, flexibility and fitness level while discovering the way to relax and rejuvenate. Conducted by: Joanne Kopcha Mondays, May 12, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. $60 for six weeks



Tai Chi
The slow easy movements of Tai Chi help to relax the body and relieve stress while improving strength, balance, flexibility and coordination. This class is for people of all ages, but is especially helpful to arthritis sufferers who often experience improved flexibility and increased range of motion. Prenatal Yoga
This class is designed to help pregnant women safely prepare for the natural process of giving birth. The gentle yoga movements will help relieve common discomforts during pregnancy and strengthen your body for labor. Instructor: Margaret Kirschner, Certified Prenatal Yoga and Meditation Teacher. Introduction To Reiki
Reiki is a form of energy work that produces a feeling of restored peace of mind through its balancing and harmonizing effects. Lung Function Screening
Determine the capacity of your lungs by taking a simple test that consists of blowing into a special tube that measures the health of your lungs. Conducted by: Bristol Hospital cardiac/pulmonary registered nurses, Wednesday, May 14, 10-11 a.m., Free



Total Cholesterol, HDL And Triglyceride Screening
Fasting for eight hours is required for this finger stick screen that takes approximately five minutes and gives your total lipid profile including cholesterol, HDL and triglyceride measures. Conducted by: Bristol Hospital cardiac/pulmonary registered nurses, Wednesday, May 14, 8-10 a.m., $20



Lymphedema Management
It is estimated that one percent of the population has lymphedema, but many people don’t know they have this condition. If you have swelling in your legs causing your pants to get tighter, or have had breast cancer surgery and notice heaviness in your arm, you may be in that one percent of the population. Join us to learn more about how living with lymphedema can be greatly improved with treatment. Instructor: Aline Mellon, PT, CLT Tuesday, May 20, 6 - 7 p.m., Free



Strength Trainging for Seniors
To reduce the loss of strength and muscle mass, it is important for us to stay physically active as we get older. This program will give an overview on how strength training for older adults can improve bone density and increase overall strength and well being. A light lunch will be provided. Kids' Quest
Kids' Quest is a six-week fitness and nutrition program that is designed to help children between the ages of 10 and 14 build a foundation for a healthful lifestyle. In a fun and interactive group setting, children learn how to improve their food choices and how to increase their physical activity. Parental support is needed to help children at home, and parents must attend three of the six classes. Call 860-314-2087 for the start date of the next program.



Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic massage soothes aches and pains and enhances the body's capacity to heal itself. Half-hour, hour and one-and-a-half hour appointments are available at the Bristol Hospital Wellness Center. Please call (860)582-WELL to schedule an appointment.



Reflexology & Reiki
Certified Reflexology Therapist and Reiki Master/Teacher Joan Myers, MA, is now available for appointments. Reflexology and Reiki are health remedies that have been practiced for centuries. Both use hands on therapy that help to calm the mind and emotions and encourage the body to heal itself. Reflexology uses the theory that our bodies are reflected on the soles of our feet and that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all parts of the body. Reiki is a form of energy work that produces a feeling of restored peace of mind through its balancing and harmonizing effects.
