Is Therapeutic Massage for Everyone?

In some cases, therapeutic massage may not be recommended. For instance, people with inflammation of the veins (phlebitis), infectious diseases, certain forms of cancer, some skin conditions, cardiac problems, or other diagnosed medical problems should always check with their physician before seeking a massage. As an option, you may benefit from a reiki session which can safely be used in any of the above conditions. If you are unsure, please do not hesitate to request to speak with a massage therapist.

What types of therapeutic massage do you offer?

Swedish - This most commonly used practice incorporates various strokes, and techniques on the more superficial layers of muscles. It is used mainly to promote relaxation, improve blood circulation and relieve muscle tension.

Deep Tissue - Focusing more on the deeper layers of muscle tissue, deep finger pressure and/or slow strokes are used on tight areas of the body.

Neuromuscular/Trigger Point Therapy - Pressure is applied to painful irritated areas in muscles to break cycles of spasm and pain.

Cranial Sacral Therapy - Performed on a fully clothed person, the therapist uses a light touch to release possible restrictions and imbalances of the central nervous system.

Sports Massage - This technique is geared to decrease the risk of injury as well as aid in the recovery of acute and chronic injuries.

Pregnancy Massage - Used to ease the discomforts of pregnancy, massage helps to relieve stress and promotes restful sleep. Expectant mothers should check with their healthcare provider before making a massage appointment.

Hot Stone Massage - The penetrating heat of the stones enhances the relaxation response and helps to melt away stress and tension.

Aromatherapy - Select an essential oil to be mixed with your massage oil to create an enhanced sensory experience.

Reiki - This form of energy work is used to relax the mind, decrease pain and accelerate healing. Light touch is applied on the clothed body to help restore physical and emotional well-being.
